PLATE XVI MORAINE-COVERED FORESTED EASTERN MAHGIN OP THE MABVZNU LOBE OF MALAS- PINA GLACIER The ice, recently thrust forward, has protruded through the soil; .the trees are tilted at various angles and overturned; and the underlying ice, exposed to air and rain, is rapidly melting. Streams of water and of liquid mud descend the slope. In early July the foreground was occupied by a lake upon which the alluvial fan had encroached, the stream, in the meantime, being greatly increased in size. Photograph taken August 9,1906. B.
